The objectives of this part of our research work are: to design a framework for database integration of heterogeneous cardiothoracic surgical systems and to integrate heterogeneous databases of cardiothoracic Systems
Project Summary
Cardiothoracic Surgical System (CSS) supports the management of patients going for coronary artery bypass
graft surgery (CABG). The system incorporates the overall patients’ management, from ward admission through Intensive Care Unit (ICU), recovery and discharge in which is divided into several modules. Each module is responsible to collect data from its integrated function(s) in order to assist in comprehensive patients’ management. These modules store all data into their own database to be viewed by medical experts.
In the existing CSS, the databases are yet to be integrated - there is no centralization, resulting in heterogeneous data with different platforms. This could lead to inefficiency in terms of time and communication within the system. By introducing integration, databases could be stored, accessed and updated
